Oakwood School in Bexleyheath, London is classed as an EBD school i.e. for children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties. Staff are dealing with children who have been excluded from mainstream education due to a variety of factors including autism, ADHD, behavioural and social problems. Tina has worked here as a Complementary Therapist offering meditation, healing and gardening to children and she has given presentations to the Doctor Healer Network on her work with these children. This workshop would give healers an insight into dealing with excluded adolescents in a school situation and would also help in dealing with autism and behavioural difficulties with clients. Tina will be accompanied by Beverley Evans, Deputy Head at Oakwood. We believe this is the first paid pilot project with healers working in a UK school. Beverley supervises the work of therapists in the school and will discuss the behavioural difficulties of the children, many of whom are on the ASD (Autistic) spectrum, and/or live with ADHD and are on medication. The workshop will include: Defining the children: Autism, ADHD and special needs. Their families, whole family treatment. Parental permission. Interventions by the school. Meditation and Healing with the children: techniques, the effects, behavioural issues etc. Healing is a treat! Feedback from students. Difficulties with getting feedback from some children. Drawing faces. Suspicions. Gardening. Feedback from staff. Shouldnt reward bad behaviour by sending them to therapy. Assessing progress. Evaluating changes in behaviour.
