Mindfulness is a practice that helps us quiet the mind and live from a deeper place inside. It is being introduced into some primary and secondary schools in the U.S. and England to help teach concentration, attention, self-regulation, conflict resolution and empathy. This evening workshop will give an introduction to healing art techniques successfully used in the USA with at-risk children and teenagers to support the practice of mindfulness. We will focus on developing the observer, teaching the mind-body connection and rebalancing the energetic system. The workshop will include practice of the techniques, where participants can actively engage and see for themselves the immediacy of the benefit and relative ease of the techniques. The presenter co-authored the book Teaching Mindfulness to Children & Teens, recently released in 2011.
